David (Lorenzo) Shaw used to play football and is now the head coach of the Stanford Cardinal. From 1991 to 1994, he was a wide receiver for the Stanford Cardinal. But his career as a coach began at Western Washington University in 1995.
In 1997, he had been an NFL assistant coach for nine years, working for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Oakland Raiders. From 1998 to 2000, he was in charge of making sure raiders were up to par. But starting in 2001, he was the quarterbacks coach, and the team won the AFC West title two years in a row.
But in 2006, he began coaching college teams again and was in charge of the San Digo Toreros. But in the end, he went back to Standford. In 2007, he began coaching the teams there, and he has been there ever since.
Also, he is said to get $4.31 million in pay every year. He has also won a number of awards, such as the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year and the Pac-12 Coach of the Year four times.

In 2001, David, the head coach of the Stanford Cardinal, married his wife Kori at Standford Memorial Church. He became a quarterbacks coach for the Oakland Raiders in the same year.
The Shaws first met each other in an Oakland dance club. But by the summer of 1995, they were already spending time together, and Mrs. Shaw was said to have seen him during her third year of college.
According to fabwags, the couple had their first date at the Apolo 13 movie, where they ate Jack in the Box fries and tacos. But they didn’t have it at first. The assistant coach took her to see his school and they ate outside of Stanford’s Memorial Church.
Kori also went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study mechanical engineering and got a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997. She is said to be working in Sonoma as the Director of Production right now.
Also, they seem to understand each other well and have kept the promises they made to each other on their wedding days. The Shaws are only about three years apart in age, so they might have been able to understand each other well.

Coach Shaw is very close to his wife, and after they got married, they started their family. They now care for Carter, Gavin, and Keegan, their sons, and Keegan, their daughter.
The coach tries to keep his personal life out of the news, but he has shown up with his family at games and other events more than once.
From the pictures, it looks like the kind of coach at Stanford also likes football, and if they make a career out of this sport, we might get to see them get drafted into the NFL one day.
Still, people are trying to find out as much as they can about Shaw’s kids, but they have kept away from the media. They might be on social media, but we haven’t found them yet.
When Coach Shaw was a child, his family moved around the country
When David Shaw was young, he and his family moved around the country because of his father. Even though he was born in San Diego, California, his dad’s job took them all over the country a lot.
Many people think the former wide receiver followed in the footsteps of his NFL coach father, Willie Lorenzo Shaw. He went to high school in Michigan at Rochester Adams High School while his father was a coach for the Detroit Lions.
When Willie got a coaching job at Stanford University in 1989, the family moved back to the Bay Area. David went to Union City, California’s James Logan High School to finish his high school education.
But when people asked him about his mother, he kept his mouth shut. Wikipedia has information about both coach Davids’s father and son, but not about his mother.
Early life and career as a player
Shaw was born in San Diego, California, and moved around the country with his family as his father Willie’s NFL coaching career took off. Shaw went to Rochester Adams High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan, for high school football while his father was a coach for the Detroit Lions.
Willie took a job as a coach at Stanford University in 1989, and his family moved back to the Bay Area. David went to James Logan High School in Union City, California, and graduated from there.
He then went to Stanford University, where he played wide receiver in college football for coaches Dennis Green and Bill Walsh. From 1991 to 1994, Shaw played college football. During that time, he caught 57 passes for 664 yards and scored five touchdowns. Shaw also played on the men’s basketball and track teams at Stanford while he was a student there. He got his B.A. in sociology in 1995.
Helper coach in the NFL
In 1995, he became a coach at Western Washington University. Shaw became an assistant coach in the NFL in 1997. He worked for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Oakland Raiders, and the Baltimore Ravens over the course of nine years.
As the Raiders’ quality control coach from 1998 to 2000 and quarterbacks coach in 2001, I helped the team win two straight AFC West titles and finish with a 10–6 record.
Shaw was the quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens from 2002 to 2004. From 2002 to 2005, he was the wide receivers coach for the Ravens. In 2003, the Ravens went 10–6 and won the AFC North. In 2005, Shaw was Derrick Mason’s coach, and he set a Ravens record with 86 receptions and 1,073 receiving yards. Mark Clayton, who was a rookie at the time, set a rookie record with 44 receptions and 471 yards.
Assistant coach at a college
In 2006, Shaw left the NFL to work as the passing game coordinator for head coach Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego. The 11-1 Toreros led the NCAA Division I-AA in passing offense (293.3 yards per game), total offense (494.25 yards per game), and scoring offense (42.83 ppg).
In 2007, when Harbaugh became the head coach at Shaw’s old school, Stanford, he brought Shaw with him as the offensive coordinator. During his time as an assistant coach, Shaw also worked with the Cardinal’s running backs and wide receivers.
Runner-up for the 2010 Heisman Trophy, Andrew Luck, helped Shaw’s team do well while he was the coordinator. With Shaw as offensive coordinator, they scored at least 40 points in 11 games, including 10 times in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, the Cardinal scored 461 points, which was a school record. The next year, they beat their own record with 524 points.
Even though Toby Gerhart, the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in 2009, had graduated by the time Shaw took over as running backs coach for Stanford in 2010, the Cardinal running game was second in the conference and 17th in the country with an average of 213.77 yards and a total of 2,779 yards, which was the second-highest rushing total in Stanford history.
The coach at Stanford is
In January 2011, Shaw was named head coach after Harbaugh left to become head coach of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. Harbaugh chose this job over many others, including a high salary with the Miami Dolphins. Shaw is the first football coach who graduated from Stanford since Paul Wiggin, who led the team from 1980 to 1983.
Shaw led the team to three straight BCS bowl games, including two Rose Bowls, in his first three years as coach. Shaw led the team to a win over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. The team went back to the Rose Bowl the following year, but Michigan State beat them in a very close game.
After a rebuilding season in 2014, Shaw led Stanford to its third Pac-12 championship in four years and, as a result, its third Rose Bowl in four years, which it won 45–16 over the Iowa Hawkeyes. With the 2015 conference championship, Shaw became the first Stanford coach in 80 years and only the third in program history to win three conference championships (after Tiny Thornhill from 1933–1935 and Pop Warner in 1924, 1926, and 1927). With Stanford’s win over Iowa in the Rose Bowl, Shaw became only the second coach in Stanford history to win two Rose Bowls (after John Ralston who won the 1971 and 1972 Rose Bowls). After that win, Stanford was ranked #3 in the final Coaches Poll, which was their best ever final ranking in that poll. After the 1940 national championship season, they were also ranked #3 in the final AP Poll, which was their best final ranking in 75 years.
With a victory over Cal in the 2017 Big Game at Stanford Stadium, Shaw broke Pop Warner’s record for most wins by a football head coach at Stanford. Shaw now has 72 wins (71 wins from 1924 to 1932). After going 8 years without losing the Big Game, Stanford lost the 2019 and 2021 Big Games at Stanford Stadium, bringing Shaw’s record against Cal to 9–2.
Life at home
Shaw and Kori have three children together. His father, Willie, was an assistant coach at Stanford for Jack Christiansen from 1974 to 1976 and for Dennis Green from 1989 to 1991. He was also an assistant coach in the NFL for the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, and St. Louis Rams. Willie Shaw was one of the finalists for the job of head football coach at Stanford in 1992. Bill Walsh got the job in the end.
