To maintain the family’s connection to its Indian heritage, Muralidhar made at least one journey to India every two years. Karuna’s mother, Vijaya Laxmi, relocated to the US in 2001 to help Sahith and his brother as Karuna battled cancer.
Every year since 2001, Laxmi has spent six months residing with Sahith’s family. Sahith was raised in California yet still maintains close links to his Indian heritage.
