In the second season of the show, Campbell will make her debut as a figure from FBI Special Agent Garrett Miller’s past. Campbell was once a straightforward, diligent woman who took a low-paying position as a bartender at a Las Vegas bar in an effort to pay off her student loans. Unfortunately, when Agent Miller employs her as an informant for the case he’s working on, she ends up being lost in the confusing FBI narcotics case. However, their affair brought an end to both their romance and the aforementioned drug case. It is unclear how Campbell’s reappearance would impact the show’s protagonist Thony (Élodie Yung), a Cambodian doctor whose situation-induced profession as a “cleaning woman” for the mob keeps her perpetually under the noses of police authorities.
It appears that Frei’s Campbell may be one of the new people from Arman’s and Nadia’s past who will be introduced to Thony in “a fresh, new way,” as Melissa Carter, the showrunner, said in a June interview with Collider about the impending Season 2. Carter added, “Thony will create new enemies and new alliances, and contend with new adversaries.” It will be interesting to observe which camp Campbell occupies on that spectrum.
