Nashville businessman Darrell Freeman passed away on Tuesday, according to a statement from his family. He was 57 years old, a family spokesman said.
Freeman started Zycron Inc., one of Nashville’s top providers of technological services, which he later sold to another business for more than $20 million in April 2017.
Since then, the graduate of Middle Tennessee State University has played a significant role in Nashville’s business world, investing in everything from real estate to the city’s food scene.

Darrell S. Freeman Sr., a self-made entrepreneur who helped and coached aspiring Black company owners, passed away on Tuesday after a protracted illness, his family said on social media. He was 57.
Following that, he devoted many hours and millions of money to helping young, poor people enroll in college and start aspirational Black businesses.
In a February interview with The Tennessean, Freeman claimed that he “spent much of my life trying to make money.”
He hopes to devote the majority of his remaining years to assisting others by identifying people who could benefit from his contacts, reputation, and resources and offering them support.
