Lakunle, the storyteller, can create exciting and entertaining tales but needs more self-assurance to share his work with the rest of the world. He confides in his best buddy Sanmi that he has a crush on Tiwa, a well-known singer, and wants Sanmi to assist him in expressing his emotions to Tiwa. Because of his lack of self-assurance, he came dangerously close to losing the love of others and credit for the stories he had created.

Because Sanmi is a person who seizes opportunities when they present themselves, she uses Lakunle to her advantage and causes tension between Tiwa and Lakunle. Because of his trickery, the King looked favorably upon him. The King had been ill, but Sanmi’s stories helped him improve, and he eventually returned to his throne. The King chose Sanmi to fill the role of chief and appointed him to the position. Soon after, he almost married Tiwa with King’s assistance, but Lakunle’s father intervened after learning the truth about Sanmi’s antics and prevented the marriage from taking place. Tiwa was welcomed into their family by the father, which helped to smooth things out between the girl and Lakunle. In the end, they both admitted how they truly felt and conspired to reveal Sanmi’s secret.
