Parents can be seen in videos circulating on social media sprinting towards Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children were slain after a teenager opened fire.
The films were initially shared on Snapchat before spreading to other social media platforms.
One of the Facebook videos shows parents and relatives console each other. While sitting on the road outside the school, a woman can be seen sobbing.
The scenes outside the school horrified many of the users.
“This is awful. I have a 9-year-old in fourth grade, and I can’t help but feel compelled to break down those walls and assist them in their search for their children… This video pierces the heart. In other videos, parents can be seen standing outside the school building, watching as law enforcement officers attack the shooter.
Eva Mireles, a fourth-grade teacher, was among those slain in the Texas school massacre. On Twitter, a parent who claimed to have taught her kid paid gratitude to her.
“My daughter’s wonderful teacher was the teacher who was killed in Uvalde, TX,” stated the woman using the Twitter name ‘Audrey.’
“Gabby was taught by Eva (Ms Mireles) in elementary school. She was a lovely woman and a diligent instructor. As you can see below, she believed in Gabby and went above and beyond to teach her. She went on to say, “There are no words.”
According to AFP, this was the seventh mass shooting this year, and it occurred 10 days after another 18-year-old slaughtered 10 African Americans at a supermarket in New York.
The tragedy is expected to exacerbate the debate over guns, public safety, and civil liberties.
“I had thought that when I became president, I wouldn’t have to do this again,” a tearful President Joe Biden said as he led the nation in grief, promising to defeat the US gun lobby and find a solution to tighten gun ownership rules.
Conservative counterparts, who rely on voter support from a large portion of the public opposed to gun regulation, reject efforts by state and federal lawmakers to tighten rules after each event.
According to a Pew poll released last year, only 53% of Americans prefer stricter gun rules, and only 49% believe that tougher laws will reduce mass shootings.
