The diagnosis of meningitis in September 2019 and then a significant injury in January 2020 from a fall during a line-out that left her with a broken leg, an ankle, and three ruptured ligaments put a halt to her participation in international competition. Her career on the international stage was put on hold as a result.
As a direct consequence of this, she did not earn her second cap until the Six Nations match against Scotland in the year 2022.

Rosie Galligan Became a Member of the Harlequins
When Rosie Galligan played rugby for Harlequins instead of Saracens, her career took off in a positive direction. She had an outstanding enough performance to win a recall to the England team for the Six Nations competition, and she was given her second cap more than a year after making her debut against Ireland in February 2019.
In addition to this, Galligan uses her platform to educate others about meningitis and how to identify the symptoms of the disease. Galligan took part in the Honda England Rugby Performance Center’s longest preseason ever for England and was a member of the England rugby team. Even though she was physically stronger and more resilient than she had ever been, it took a lot of work for her to gain the mental strength that was necessary to deal with the crowds in training camp and the selection bubble. The Meningitis Now charity has named Galligan an ambassador for the organisation.
