Robert Garon: Florida man, 23, arrested for BRUTALLY beating 5-month-old pup Buzz Lightyear to death

COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA: On Thursday, August 11, police arrested a 23-year-old man after he was accused of beating a 5-month-old Goldendoodle so badly that it died.

Robert William Garon is being charged with animal cruelty because this is the second time in five months that a dog he took care of has died. During the suspect’s first court appearance on Friday, August 12, the judge set bail at $150,000. Garon was also told he couldn’t have pets or talk to witnesses. Sheriff Kevin Rambosk of Collier County said it was one of the worst cases of animal cruelty he had ever seen. The sheriff said in a statement, “This is one of the worst cases of animal abuse we’ve seen.” “No animal should have to die in such a horrible way.”

During the hearing on Friday, a prosecutor said, “This dog died from blunt force trauma to the head and body that was not an accident.” “A physical exam of the outside and inside of the body showed multiple blunt force trauma injuries to the head, lumbar region, and abdomen.” According to an arrest report from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Garon and his girlfriend took the dog, named Buzz Lightyear, to the Emergency Pet Hospital on July 29. “The puppy was wet, confused, and struggling to breathe. The dog couldn’t stand up or lift its head. “A vet exam showed possible head trauma, bruising on the right ear and mouth, and muscle damage all over the body,” the department said. Garon and his girlfriend couldn’t tell hospital staff what happened to hurt the dog, they said.

Still, when the dog was checked out, it was found that its right ear and mouth were bruised. X-rays showed that the lung had been bruised. Later, staff at the hospital called the police to report that the dog had been hurt and had died. They said the dog may have died from a “possible brain bleed.” The sheriff’s report says that the dog died because of Garon’s “torment.” Two people who didn’t want to be named told the police that Garon was drunk when he locked himself in a room and beat the dog. They said they heard the poor dog “yelping and crying out in pain, and they heard the suspect beating the dog to death.” Even though the door was locked and the witnesses couldn’t get in, the beating went on for several minutes until the dog stopped crying.

The suspect’s girlfriend, who was also not named, told the police that she thinks Garon really did kill the dog. She said she was worried when she got home and found the dog almost dead. During questioning, Garon denied that he had hurt animals or had a problem with drugs, which witnesses had said he did. He is being held in the Collier County Jail right now. Fox News said that the Collier County Domestic Animal Services and the Humane Society of Naples helped the sheriff’s office with their investigation.
