Ricky Martin: Why has a lawsuit been filed against him?
Rebecca Drucker, Ricky Martin’s former manager, has filed a lawsuit against the Puerto Rican pop star for approximately $3 million in unpaid fees. Drucker has claimed that there was a blatant violation of the contract. According to Drucker, the Puerto Rican artist was managed by her over two distinct time periods: first, from 2014 to 2018, and then again from 2020 to 2022, because his “personal and professional life (were) in extreme upheaval.”
Drucker presented the case to the Los Angeles Central District Court on June 29th, the day it was filed. According to the records, Drucker assisted Martin with his “recording contracts, touring and sponsorship deals, and other professional undertakings.” Additionally, the documents noted Martin’s tour throughout North America with Enrique Iglesias.

According to the case that Rebecca Drucker has lodged against Martin, she is owed significant commissions by him because he made millions of dollars during the time that she was managing him.
Because Martin was able to make millions of dollars with Rebecca by his side, he now owes Rebecca significant commissions on those earnings.

“Rebecca Drucker was the one who pulled Ricky Martin out of obscurity. There is just one problem, and that is that Martin has utterly and maliciously refused to pay Rebecca the millions of dollars in commissions that he owes her according to the terms of their management agreement.
The records also claimed that Martin was facing allegations that may end his career in September of 2020, while Drucker was still in charge. According to the reports, the singer came out of the situation uninjured thanks to Drucker.
Martin is said to have received a letter from a litigation attorney in Los Angeles, California, in September 2020. In the letter, the attorney threatened to publicly file a legal complaint against Martin if Martin did not pay money to settle a claim against the singer that was alleged by the attorney’s client. Martin is believed to have received the letter.

The complaint shed additional light on the fact that Martin and Drucker’s professional connection had to be severed against their will. Drucker claims in her formal complaint that Martin often lied to her and manipulated her, which ultimately led to her leaving her position in April of 2022.
She further claimed that the singer had threatened her with a non-disclosure agreement, to which she had categorically refused to comply. Drucker has at this point requested that all issues and grounds of action be tried before a jury.
Attorneys Joshua M. Rosenberg and Armound Ghoorchian of Venable LLP were the ones to initiate the legal action by filing the complaint.
