Rhett Lashlee’s Wife Lauren and Their Children
Rhett Lashlee and his wife Lauren marked their 15th wedding marriage anniversary on 28 April 2022. The couple is now the parents of four children.
The Lashlee family mostly lives in South Florida. Lauren is supportive of her husband’s career. She attends Rhett’s several matches to cheer him up.
Mrs. Lashlee was delighted when she learned her hubby was appointed as the head coach at Southern Methodist University on 30 November 2021.

Rhett Lashlee’s Career in Coaching
Before 2017, Lashlee has spent his entire career working under Gus Malzahn, with the exception of the year he spent at Samford University.
During the 2004 and 2005 school years, Lashlee volunteered his time to assist the quarterbacks at Springdale High School.
In 2006, after it was announced that Gus Malzahn would be taking over as the offensive coordinator for the Arkansas Razorbacks, Lashlee was offered a position as an offensive graduate assistant.
At the end of this season, Malzahn resigned from his position as head coach of the Auburn Tigers in order to take over as offensive coordinator of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team. Lashlee turned down an offer to become a member of Malzahn’s coaching staff at Tulsa and instead decided to remain in Northwest Arkansas. Instead, Lashlee and his brother-in-law collaborated on the writing, publication, and promotion of High School Athletics The Magazine, a publication that was eventually called Vype and focused on high school sports in the state of Arkansas.
During the two years that Lashlee was actively involved in the company, he advertised his magazine to distributors and developed ties with high school coaches across the state of Arkansas. When he was able to find the time in his schedule, Lashlee took on the role of quarterbacks coach at Har-Ber High School as a volunteer. Auburn made the decision to appoint Malzahn for the position of offensive coordinator for the 2009 season. In the wake of this announcement, Malzahn extended an invitation to Lashlee to become a graduate assistant on his coaching staff. This would mark Lashlee’s return to the field of coaching.
Samford
Lashlee began his coaching career at Samford University in 2011 when he was hired to serve as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. A high speed offense was implemented by Lashlee during his one and only season at Samford. As a result, the team raised their points per game from 17 to 26, their overall offense from 57 to 46 on the national ranking list, and their record went from 4–6 to 6–5.
Arkansas State
Following Gus Malzahn’s departure from Auburn University in 2012, Lashlee was hired by Arkansas State University to serve as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Malzahn had previously been the head coach at Auburn University.
Auburn
Following Gus Malzahn’s return to Auburn University after spending one year as the offensive coordinator at Arkansas State University, Lashlee was hired on December 6, 2012 to take over Malzahn’s former position at Auburn University as the quarterbacks coach.
The Broyles Award is presented each year to the top college football assistant coach in the United States, and Lashlee was a finalist for the award in 2013.

UConn
In 2017, Lashlee accepted a position at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
SMU
Southern Methodist University made Lashlee its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on January 4, 2018, shortly after the announcement of his hiring (SMU).
Miami
Under the direction of head coach Manny Diaz, the University of Miami made the decision on January 3, 2020 to employ Lashlee for the position of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

On November 30, 2021, Lashlee was named head coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU), succeeding Sonny Dykes, who had moved on to become the head coach at Texas Christian University. Sonny Dykes’ departure was due to his acceptance of the position at Texas Christian University (TCU).

Lashlee was very excited to finally get to meet his family after being offered the position of quarterbacks coach at the University of Miami beginning in the 2020 season. Rhett asserted that his wife thinks he’s insane for loving the twenty-hour travel, but he did like it very much indeed. They were caught in traffic with all four of his children in the car at one point.
Lauren stated that they have had a wonderful time since they have spent some quality time with Rhett in addition to spending time with their families, which is something that they do not typically do at this time of year.
Rhett Lashlee: Gus Malzahn’s staff
The University of Connecticut made the announcement on Wednesday night that the offensive coordinator for Auburn had taken the same position with the Huskies. He will be working with coach Randy Edsall’s staff after spending the previous four years working with Gus Malzahn’s staff.
According to reports by Brett McMurphy of ESPN, Lashlee inked a contract with UConn that will pay him $350,000 per year over the course of three years. At Auburn, he made a yearly salary of $600,000.
In a statement that was distributed by the university, head coach Gus Malzahn was quoted as saying, “Rhett has been a significant asset to our program, helping Auburn achieve a national title as a graduate assistant and another national championship appearance in 2013.” Because of his significant contributions, our offenses have enjoyed a great deal of success recently.
When the position of head coach at UConn first became available on December 26, following Bob Diaco’s dismissal, the name of Lashlee was mentioned in connection with the opening. However, the Huskies ultimately decided to bring back Randy Edsall, who had previously served in that capacity from 1999-2000 before leaving for Maryland.

Byrd Wins Challenge for Houston County coroner
His previous coaching stops have been at his alma mater Springdale High School, Arkansas, Samford, Arkansas State, and Auburn. Although the 33-year-old Springdale, Arkansas native has no connection to the state of Connecticut, he does have ties to the athletic director David Benedict, who served for two years as the Chief Operating Officer for Auburn Athletics.
Only the second time in Lashlee’s coaching career will he not be working under Malzahn. Before taking on the role as offensive coordinator for the Tigers for the past four seasons, Lashlee worked under Malzahn as the offensive coordinator for Arkansas State in 2013. He also served as a graduate assistant for the Tigers from 2009 to 2010 and for the Razorbacks in 2006.
His only year in the collegiate ranks that was not spent working with Malzahn was in 2011 when he served as the offensive coordinator for Samford. During that season, his Bulldogs finished the season ranked 36th nationally in total offense with more than 391 yards per game and 43rd in scoring with nearly 29 points per game.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Rhett to implement and run his own offense,” said Malzahn. “I couldn’t be more excited for him.” “Rhett is a man of great character and integrity, and I’ve known him for the past two decades. He’s taking another step toward his dream of being a head coach, which is something he’s always wanted to do.
I’d like to express my gratitude to Rhett for everything he’s done and for the friendship he’s shown me. I want to send him and his wife, Lauren, my best wishes as they embark on this new adventure.”
Lashlee expressed gratitude for the time he was able to spend with Malzahn.
“It should come as no surprise that coach Malzahn and I are quite close. Our relationship will remain positive at all times. He has been really encouraging and supportive. I have a lot of gratitude toward him since he provided me with an opportunity at Auburn, “Lashlee added. “I’m incredibly delighted that we were able to win two SEC championships and play for two national titles. I think that speaks volumes about our team. We were successful in a great many endeavors.”
Before Auburn’s game against LSU on September 24 of this season, Lashlee took over as the primary play-caller for the Tigers and helped guide them to six consecutive victories. However, the team’s success was cut short when quarterback Sean White and leading rusher Kamryn Pettway both suffered injuries.
It is currently Lashlee’s final season on the Plains, but Auburn (8-5) finished the year ranked sixth in the nation in running offense (271.3 yards per game), 112th in passing offense (169.5 yards per game), and 49th in scoring (31.2 points per game).
The Connecticut Huskies were rated 118th, 94th, and last in the country, respectively, after their 3-9 record.

Lauren and Rhett Lashlee got married in 2007 when he was 24 years old.
The Lashlee couple was blessed with their twin sons, Thomas and Hudson, in 2010.
