Rebecca Drucker: Why Ricky Martin’s former manager is suing him?
Drucker asserted that she was responsible for preventing a ‘catastrophic’ event in Martin’s professional life and that he owed her millions of dollars in commission for the favor.

Ricky Martin is once again making news, this time as a result of the sexual assault charges leveled against his manager Edgardo Diaz by members of his old band Menudo. During this time, Ricky Martin chose to remain silent. Rebecca Drucker, Martin’s former manager, is seeking more than $3 million in damages in her lawsuit against him. Drucker handled Martin over two distinct time periods: first, from 2014 to 2018, and then later, from 2020 to 2022. Drucker asserted that the individual “mistreated, manipulated, and lied to her” while also “fostering a hostile work atmosphere.”

In the 15-page lawsuit that was submitted to the LA Central District Court, it is alleged that Drucker assisted Martin with “recording contracts, touring and sponsorship deals, and other professional endeavors.” Additionally, the lawsuit states that “With Rebecca at his side, Martin made millions of dollars and therefore owes Rebecca substantial commissions.” The manager also stated that she was responsible for protecting Martin’s career at one point from a “catastrophic” controversy. She went on to say that Martin struggles with substance misuse and that he created a “toxic” working atmosphere. “Martin was shielded from the repercussions of his irresponsible actions by her for a number of years. Rebecca did so not only due to the fact that she was his manager, but also due to the fact that she considered Martin to be her closest friend “the litigation that was brought up. In addition to this, it states, “Ricky Martin owes his success in the music industry to Rebecca Drucker. There is just one problem, and that is that Martin has utterly and maliciously refused to pay Rebecca the millions of dollars in commissions that he owes her according to the terms of their management agreement.

In addition, the manager asserts that the singer was confronted with a “perhaps career-ending allegation” in September of 2020, but with her assistance, he was able to “emerge unhurt and proceed with his professional rebirth.”” According to the lawsuit, “Martin got a letter from a well regarded litigation attorney in Los Angeles, California, around the time that September 2020 rolled around. This is just one example of many more. While Rebecca and Martin were perusing the legal letter for the first time, Martin was standing next to Rebecca. In that letter, the attorney threatened to publicly file a court complaint against Martin if Martin did not pay money to settle a claim against him that was believed to have been made by the attorney’s client. Martin had received the letter in response to the threat made by the attorney.”

In addition, the case demonstrates that they were “forced” to end their business partnership, which is something that has been emphasized. Drucker made the assertion that Martin routinely lied to her and manipulated her in their interactions. In July of 2021, following a “communication breakdown,” Drucker offered her resignation, but Martin “begged” her to remain in the position. According to the lawsuit, she initially consented but then tendered her resignation in April of 2022.

Drucker is now attempting to collect unpaid commissions totaling millions of dollars from the transactions she mediated for Martin. She went on to say that the singer “now threatened” her with a nondisclosure agreement in order to get her to keep quiet, but that she declined to sign the document.

Ducker has made the demand for a trial before a jury that will cover all of the issues and grounds of action.
