Her father died in late 2021, when she was six months pregnant with Arlo Olive Amelia Martinez, her first child. Arlo had minor stroke bites, which she only saw on her head when she was three months old, according to her Instagram post. She interprets it as kisses from heaven from her father.
Before Alex joined PFL, the two of them went across Western Canada in an RV. Alex had applied to a few tournaments and had decided to visit western Canada. The pair was essentially seeking for any gym that would allow Alex to prepare for when he was called to fight.
Alex was on the shortlist for the UFC at the time, so he needed to be in top shape because he may be called to fight at any time. Martinez received a call asking if he would be interested in fighting for PFL as a substitute while he and his wife were traveling in the lower mainland one day, and thus his adventure began.
