Barbara Jo and Richard Louis Chernus welcomed their son Michael Chernus into the world on August 8, 1977 in Rocky River, Ohio. His father is a hybrid of German and Hungarian descent.

Michael was active in sports while he was in school and had never considered acting. He played basketball for his school’s squad.

After seeing the Sylvester Stallone-starring film “Rocky,” everything changed for him. As he left the theatre, he made the decision to pursue acting. He was in the eighth grade at the time, and the next day, he started going to his “Rocky River Middle School’s” acting courses.

In one of his very first plays, he played the part of “Gandalf” in “The Hobbit.” He received positive feedback for his performance, which encouraged him to take acting more seriously.

He continued to perform in plays, and with his parents’ encouragement, he started enrolling in acting workshops at the Lakewood “Beck Center.”

He made an appearance in one of the lead characters of the comedy movie “People Places Things” in 2015. Although the movie was well-received by critics, it did poorly at the box office.

He has been in minor parts in television series like “Patriot” and “Manhattan.” He was hired to portray one of the series’ major parts in “Tommy,” which will debut in 2020.
