Two people were shot outside the home of Lee Zeldin
Rep. Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for governor of New York, says that on Sunday, two people were shot outside his home on Long Island.
Suffolk County Police say that the event happened in Shirley, Long Island, at about 2:20 p.m. on Sunday. Zeldin said in a statement that his two 16-year-old daughters were in the house when the incident happened. After the Bronx Columbus Day Parade, the candidate for governor had just left Morris Park.
Two 17-year-old boys were shot through the window of a dark SUV at 2:19 p.m., while two other teens were walking through Zeldin’s neighborhood. The two men tried to hide in the yard of what is thought to be Zeldin’s house after they were shot.
The police said that the third teen left the scene. Two male 17-year-olds with injuries that did not threaten their lives were taken to a nearby hospital.

Lee’s family is upset about what happened
Rep. Lee Zeldin of the United States said that the tragedy that happened on Sunday “shook” his two teenage daughters.
Zeldin said that when my girls heard the gunshots and screams, they ran upstairs, locked themselves in the bathroom, and called 911. “Diana and I are very proud of how fast and smart they were at every turn.”
Zeldin, the Republican candidate for governor of New York, said that one of the injured people was found under the family’s front porch. The other, on the other hand, was found in the bushes outside the porch.
He said that one of the bullets went 30 feet past the kitchen table where his daughters were doing their homework.

How I grew up and went to school
Zeldin’s parents, Merrill Schwartz and David Zeldin, had him in East Meadow, New York. He grew up in Suffolk County, New York, and graduated from Mastic Beach, New York’s William Floyd High School in 1998. He went to Hebrew school as well.

Serving in the military and being a lawyer

In January 2011, a bill that Zeldin helped pass put a cap on property taxes at 2%.

Zeldin did not vote on the NY SAFE Act, which passed the New York State Senate on January 14, 2013, and later became law. He didn’t get to vote because he was on Army Reserve duty in Virginia. After the vote, he said in a statement that he would have voted against the measure.
