Moonbyul of Mamamoo, Jooheon of Monsta X, and Yoon of Winner all tested positive for covid in Kpop.
It appears that Covid-19 will not allow K-pop idols to work in peace, as three fresh idols have fallen ill after testing positive with the virus over the weekend.
With the start of a new week comes the arrival of new Covid-19 cases. Mamamoo’s Moonbyul, along with Monsta X’s Jooheon and WINNER’s Seungyoon, was the third idol of the day to test positive for the Coronavirus on the same day, according to reports published on April 11. While the risk of Covid-19 has been significantly lowered over the past couple of years, and many nations have also removed the mask mandate, the incidence of virus transmission has not decreased at all.
Because of the high transmission rate of the most current forms of Covid, K-pop agencies are still placing a great focus on the safety of their artists and employees, and are requesting that idols who test positive for the virus take a temporary hiatus while they are in quarantine. The number of Covid instances has increased over the months as K-pop idols promote in full force, whether it’s for their group or solo comebacks, fan meetups, or concerts. In March alone, a total of 103 stars tested positive for Covid-19, a rise from the previous month.
Mamamoo’s Moonbyul becomes Ill
It was stated on April 11 by RBW Entertainment, the label that manages the operations of Mamamoo, that Moonbyul had tested positive for the Covid anti-fungal drug. The news of the Mamamoo member’s illness was announced via the group’s official fan cafe, and it was said that Moonbyul was experiencing symptoms like as a scratchy throat, prompting her to have a Covid-19 fast antigen test at a medical institution right away. Furthermore, according to the company, the test returned a positive result, prompting the rapper to quickly cancel all of her forthcoming appearances. Moonbyul had previously received three rounds of vaccine against the virus, according to the label, and she will be placed in quarantine in order to recover more quickly.
Jooheon is the newest member of the Monsta X group to test positive
Monsta X’s are a type of monsta. Among the four other active members of the boy group, Jooheon was the only one who did not test positive, and it appears that Joohoen’s antibodies aren’t quite as potent as those of Monbebe (as joked about by fans of Monsta X). Fan’s of the boy group joked that Hyungwon’s antibodies against Covid-19 were extremely strong after he and his fellow members Hyungwon, Minhyuk, Kihyun, and I.M. (Changkyun) all announced that they had tested positive for the virus. It turns out that this is no longer the case, since Jooheon is the most recent member of the group to test positive for the virus now that all members have been released from their quarantines.
According to reports, Jooheon tested positive for the virus on April 9 after experiencing sore throat symptoms. The test was performed at home using a self-kit and revealed that he had the virus. Jooheon has completed the third dosage of the Covid-19 vaccination, according to Starship Entertainment, the label that manages Monsta X’s operations. Jooheon has reported no symptoms other than a mild sore throat following the third dose of the vaccine. The rapper has cancelled all of his scheduled appearances and has been placed in quarantine separate from the other Monsta X members.
Yoon, the winner’s leader, also tests positive
Also on the same day, it was announced that Yoon, the leader of YG Entertainment’s boy group WINNER (aka Winner), had also become ill as a result of the Covid virus on April 7. Following mild symptoms of a cold, Kang Seung-yoon, better known by his stage as Yoon, was found to be infected with the Coronavirus just a few days before. After announcing a break and cancelling all of his activities until he recovers, it was revealed that the Winner captain will not return to the game until April 13. Meanwhile, the remaining three Winner members — Jinu, Hoony, and Mino — have not displayed any symptoms and have all tested negative for Covid-19, according to the latest available information.
