Plot of Under the Queen’s Umbrella

The King provides an update to each member of the triumvirate. He invites them to think of a question they would like to ask the potential candidates for Crown Prince if they were the King and wanted to select the most qualified individuals. Uiseong is persuaded to include this topic as part of the test when Seongnam brings up Uiseong and describes how people complain that the King is nothing more than a puppet.

Now that she is aware that Seongnam is in the lead following this material for the examination, the Dowager enlists the help of Ijojoeongrang, the Section Chief of the Ministry of Personnel, to turn things back in her favor and gain an advantage. When one hands over a present, one’s intentions are pretty obvious. If he stays loyal to the Dowager and agrees with her selection of Bogeom as Crown Prince, then the sons of these section heads will be promoted to higher positions in the government upon Bogeom’s accession to that throne.

Storyline of Under the Queen’s Umbrella

While all of this is going on, the State Councilor is busy trying to find a way to counterbalance it by luring officials to him personally. He starts with the Minister of Justice. Hwa-Ryeong is well aware of this disagreement, but she has ignored it to inflame the situation further. Ultimately, if her adversaries are divided between Uiseong and Bogeom, it provides Seongnam with a more significant opportunity to advance.

Uiseong initially has a significant lead in the vote count, but when news of his terrible treatment of servants spreads, he begins to slip more and further behind. As they frantically try to figure out what steps to take next, one of the scholars informs Hwang of the situation. She has concluded that the only person who can resolve this issue is Queen Dowager. As a result, the State Councilor and Hwang have returned, prostrating before the Dowager and imploring her to assist them and Prince Uiseong.

This places Dowager in a powerful position, as she will effectively get to select between the two Princes and the guarantee that Hwang will not accede to Queen if Dowager chooses her son places even more power in her hands.

The Dowager appears to have made her decision and has a conversation with Consort Tae and Bogeom, during which she suggests they withdraw from the competition. Because Tae has pledged to do anything the Dowager asks of her, she is shocked to find that her morals are being tested. She might be executed for opposing the Dowager. Still, despite tears streaming down her cheeks, she maintains her defiant stance and refuses to let her son lose, arguing that the situation is not fair and just.

Despite this, Bogeom decides to withdraw from the competition altogether, the harsh words of Dowager ringing around in his head. After all, a prince descended from a mother with a low social status will never attain the position of Crown Prince.

Hwa-Ryeong is displeased with the interference, and as soon as it occurs to him, he makes it straightforward for the scholars to confront them about their immoral behavior. She will not reveal the identities of individuals responsible for sending the messages, which were hidden in chamber pots and discovered by the staff. However, this is their final opportunity to maintain their honor and dignity. She then informs the King that she hasn’t found anything and destroys the evidence in front of them; however, as a direct result of Hwa-actions, Ryeong’s all of the scholars decide to do the ethical thing and burn their notes. They are going to carry this out in the appropriate manner so as not to contaminate the contest.

In connection with the tainting, Consort Tae is put in the position of a servant and given the task of cleaning Hwa-chamber. Ryeong Even if she does a good job, Hwa-Ryeong is instructed to perform the task once more once she has completed the entire room. It is a challenging job, but she is not permitted to have any assistance of any kind. Hwa-Ryeong confronts her at some point and tells her that her desire for wealth obscured her judgment, which is why she could not recognize that Bogeom was being exploited and may have been harmed.

Hwa-Ryeong is a kind and fair Queen with great values, and in the end, she tells Tae that she looks dreadful while maintaining a friendly smile on her face.

It turns out that before this, the Queen had a conversation with Bogeom, who cautioned her against inflicting too much pain on Tae. Hwa-Ryeong is impartial, and she tells him that he should not question his heritage and that he has every right to run for the role of Crown Prince. However, given that he has dropped out of school at this point, the post he should apply for is that of a trusted advisor to the King. This is a position that is not only lucrative but also steeped in prestige. It is acceptable to express frustration when things are difficult. Hwa-Ryeong speaks to the youngster while holding his hands and trying to coax him into opening up. Because of everything that has happened, Consort Tae has started smiling again, which draws Bogeom and Tae closer together than they were before.

The State Councilor suddenly reveals, right before the decision is made based on the evaluation results, that there is a rumor about Grand Prince Seongnam. He does not appear to have been raised in the palace and does not appear to be of royal lineage. If this is the case, then Seongnam will not be able to take his rightful place as Crown Prince, and the only way to find out the truth is to have his blood tested.

This is a further con, and it delays the outcome to give the officials enough time to implement their plan. It has been discovered that Hwang and the State Councilor have been sneakingly adding snake blood to the sample, which has tainted the water used to test the blood. As a consequence, Hwa-Ryeong has Consort Hwang and the State Councilor each have the same water tested, and the results demonstrate the same thing: that they have failed the competition.

As a direct result of this, the King has issued a mandate that calls for the imposition of the death penalty on anyone who criticizes the Princes or casts doubt on their ancestry. Following the delivery of this stinging speech, Seongnam is selected as the victor. Regardless of this, Uiseong is not going to back down.

In a private conversation with Hwang and the State Councilor, he reveals his intention to topple the King from his throne by any means necessary, even using the King’s people against him.

The Recap of the Episode of Under the Queen’s Umbrella

This week, Under the Queen’s Umbrella, is back with another exciting episode, in which the competition’s winner is revealed to be Seongnam, and the contest concludes. Even though it was probably foreseeable that this would occur, there have been some exciting events. The most notable of them was the blood test and the disclosure made by Consort Tae.

How Queen Hwa-Ryeong deals with the various individuals who betray her demonstrates the degree to which she upholds the principles of justice and fairness. It would have been quite simple to expel Consort Tae entirely. Still, Hwa-Ryeong recognizes that they have the potential to be extremely loyal, and she utilizes her generosity – just like she did with Consort Ko – to shift things in her favor.

Because Uiseong is currently hatching a conspiracy to take the throne, and Seongnam has just been elevated to the rank of Crown Prince, there is much room for speculation about where this story could go from here.
