Kandi Burruss has opened two restaurants in Atlanta since joining The Real Housewives of Atlanta in Season 2: Old Lady Gang and Blaze Steak and Seafood. Kandi and her husband, Todd Tucker, opened Old Lady Gang with the support of several family members during Season 9 of the Bravo hit. Kandi enlisted the support of her mother, Joyce “Mama Joyce” Jones, for the restaurant’s soul food dishes, as well as Kandi’s aunts, Nora Wilcox and Bertha Jones.
We follow Kandi, her family, and their employees as they manage Old Lady Gang in the RHOA spinoff Kandi and the Gang. Kandi’s family and her crew, however, do not always agree.
Kandi Burruss’ restaurants constantly mix her personal and professional life.
Many family members and close friends work at Kandi’s restaurants. DonJuan Clark, Kandi’s right-hand man, is one of the show’s stars, as audiences saw on Kandi and the Gang. Riley, Ace, and Blaze, her children, have also made appearances at the eateries.
Although Kandi is surrounded by relatives at Old Lady Gang and Blaze, she has also hired a number of non-family members of the community. Kandi, on the other hand, said in an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that some of her coworkers had trouble interacting with her family.
Kandi pointed to her mother and aunt, who worked as bartenders on the programme, when asked who “bumps heads” with them the most. She said, “I guess it would have to be between my mama and Aunt Nora.”
Mama Joyce and her sisters aren’t afraid to tell Kandi how they feel, as RHOA viewers know, so they’re not going to be shy about sharing their thoughts with her employees either. Fortunately, Kandi and her mother are now in a position to work together, which was not always the case.
Kandi and Mama Joyce have had their ups and downs throughout the years, particularly when it comes to Todd, as fans will recall. Thankfully, Kandi acknowledged in 2020 that Blaze’s birthday in November the previous year had aided everyone’s progress.
“My mom really changed once Blaze was born,” Kandi stated on the RHOA After Show. “[Todd and Joyce] hadn’t spoken in years before Blaze was born, and my mother hadn’t even visited my house. My mother now visits us frequently. Her and Todd are now conversing and laughing together. As a result, it’s been a boon.”
Is Kandi Burruss leaving ‘RHOA’ amid ‘Kandi and the Gang’s’ success?
Kandi has been on RHOA for a total of 12 seasons. In addition to owning her peach, she has many Bravo spinoffs, including The Kandi Factory and Kandi’s Wedding. Kandi and the Gang is her fifth programme since leaving the Real Housewives of Atlanta cast, and fans have been raving about it since its premiere.
Despite her popularity, Kandi has no plans to leave RHOA anytime soon. Despite suspicions that The Real’s Jeannie Mai would take her place, Kandi stated that she was starring in Season 14 and had already begun filming when the news broke.
