After his father receives an anonymous call, Michigan teen is discovered shot to death in the basement

Jacob Hills, a recent high school graduate from Grand Blanc, Michigan, was discovered dead on July 25 in Detroit following an unidentified call to his father, according to the police.

Jacob’s family reported him missing on Sunday, July 24, and on Monday, July 25, the 18-year-old was discovered in the basement of an apartment building in the Detroit region with several gunshot wounds.

During a press conference, Detroit Police Commander Michael McGinnis stated that Jacob was in the apartment complex for a party. McGinnis declared, “We are aware of the victim’s desire to buy a firearm. We don’t want to go into that much detail at this point, whether that occurred in the region where he lived or in this area.”

Added he, “I am positive that he came for a party. We need to find out the details of what happened from that moment on to where we are right now for the family.”

Only a few days separated Jacob from enlisting in the National Guard. On Saturday, July 23, he told his family he was heading to a party in Detroit that night, and they were last seen together on a boat. The Police Commander claims that after Jacob failed to show up by Sunday, his family located his car and phone in Dearborn Heights after tracking down his phone’s whereabouts.

The police commander stated in the press conference captured by FOX 2 that on the evening of July 24, Jacob’s father reportedly received an anonymous phone call claiming that Jacob was in the basement of an apartment building on Warren Avenue in Detroit.

Following the phone call, police arrived at the scene and discovered Jacob’s death. His life was cut short, and our detectives are working hard to find the person responsible and deliver justice to the family, the police chief added. He continued by saying that before he was discovered dead, Jacob was at the party with his pals.

Mother claims that Jacob was drawn into the celebration

Sadie Hills, Jacob’s mother, told WXYZ that the cops had discovered her son “in a pool of blood.” She also mentioned Jacob’s recent acquisition of a gun at Grand Blanc. Sadie thinks her son was tricked into going to the party by his new gun and graduation cash. They took his shoes off of his feet, Sadie remarked.

Friends remembered Jacob as “simply the kindest, nicest person you could imagine of” at a vigil held on Monday, July 25. He was the ultimate giver, said a buddy, and “he didn’t expect anything from you.”

At first, it was asserted that Jacob had an AR-15, but it vanished after he was shot. Fox News Digital, however, has received confirmation from Detroit police that there is no lost weapon.

Anyone with information on the event is asked to call Detroit Police Homicide at 313-596-2260, according to the police.
