Butler Jang begins cataloguing the famous exorcisms performed by Fr. Giovanni over the years. Butler Jang is informed by Giovanni that he too has done a remarkable job over the years of guarding the Savior.

Butler Jang seems perplexed, so Giovanni explains what the prophesy says. He claims that the savior was to be reborn a second time in order to put a stop to the darkness that would be brought about by the demons because she was unable to defend the planet from them during her first birth.

The priest continues by saying that Won Min-ho is the reincarnation of the savior and that he returned to Korea only to defend her.

Island Episode 2: Recap

As he kills the demon, Ban puts on a show for Min-ho, revealing to the demon who he truly is. Ban gathers the last demon stone left over after the lust demon is killed, just as he did with the others.

When Min-ho learns that Ban kills demons for a living, he is astonished, yet he wonders if she remembers anything at all. She refuses.

She learns about the desire demon from Ban, who also asserts that they have been on Jeju since the beginning of time.

Min-ho questions why the demons are pursuing her because she believes Ban is the only person who has the power to exterminate them.

With a straight face, Ban tells Min-ho that the only option left is for her to die because her destiny attracts the monsters to her.

When Min-ho wonders if leaving to Seoul or elsewhere would be a better way to avoid the demons, Ban responds, again with a straight face, that the demons would follow her there as well. He tells Min-ho to try and fight them if she can, then leaves (disappears into thin air) her alone.

The following day, while making his rounds in the forest, Fr. Giovanni (John) notices several of the demon antlers lying on the ground.

He gathers one and starts to speculate as to how these antlers might have formed. He specifically seeks out the mountain structure where Ban is. The demon stone is faithfully set down by Ban near the mountain.

Island Episode 2: Cast

The elderly woman from the previous episode, Baek-joo, runs a little eatery called Granny Haenyeo’s Home, where Ban next goes. Ban is questioned by Baek-joo about whether Min-ho is in fact Won-jeong.

On her walk home from school, Tamra High School student Yeom-ji discovers another Dol Hareubang. Ban is enjoying the supper that Baek-joo has cooked for him when Yeom-ji interrupts, forcing him to leave without even taking a bite.

Butler Jang, who turns out to be a priest as well, speaks with Fr. Giovanni later that evening about his studies on the lust demons.

When the young priest inquires about the mysterious Ban, Butler Jang forewarns him, saying that all of his curiosity would be put to rest once he encounters the perilous demon slayer. The challenge is accepted by Dr. Giovanni.

Min-ho is still reflecting on what Ban told her regarding her future at this time. Butler Jang attempts to dissuade her from taking sleeping pills while bringing her some tea to help her go asleep.

She would experience nightmares, according to Min-ho, if she didn’t take the pill, but she doesn’t in order to win his heart. After Butler Jang has left, Min-ho downs the tablet and tea.

She prays to all the gods in the universe, pleading with them to help her, but she becomes frightened when she hears noises coming from outside her window.

Island Episode 2: Plot

It is Ban who enters her room unexpectedly and sits down on a chair as if the two of them are closest friends.

Ban answers Min-question ho’s about if the monsters in the house were attempting to kill her by displaying the demon stone, suggesting that he had already eliminated the monster that was there.

When Min-ho inquires as to the overall number of demons, Ban shockingly replies that there are so many that he has never counted them.

When she wonders what she can do, Ban gives her the brilliant suggestion of simply attempting to blend in. According to Min-ho, she couldn’t since the monsters may take control of those who were close to her and use them to murder her.

Since nobody wanted her to be alive in the first place, she questions whether killing herself is really a good option after all.

When Min-ho begs Ban to start serving as her bodyguard in order to protect her, she initially becomes unhappy and tearful but then unexpectedly flips the script on Ban.

The demon slayer can’t help but roll his eyes at the woman’s claim that Ban truly followed her because he fell in love with her.

Using her amazing persuasion abilities, Min-ho persuades Ban to make an agreement with her. She reads out the conditions of their agreement to Ban while making jokes about her sense of humor—or lack thereof—but it gets to him, and he starts to walk away.

Min-ho tries to stop him and apologizes before pleading with him to spend the night with her and watch out for her.

Ban sees how desperate she is and watches her nod off as the sleeping medicine takes effect.

He stays close to Min-bed ho’s and cannot help but see the scar that resembles Wonjeong’s on Min-chest. ho’s She enters a peaceful slumber when Ban performs a spell over her to protect her from nightmares.

The following morning, Min-ho wakes up in a good mood to discover that Ban had signed the contract without referencing his desire for a raise.

Ban has returned to the mountain fortress where he is resting the demon stone from the previous evening. He remembers his last encounter with Wonjeong there.

In a flashback, Ban is seen killing Wonjeong when fully controlled by the desire demon (who looks like Min-ho). The present-day Ban ponders whether he should be grateful to Wonjeong for forgetting him or angry over it.

Island: Episodes

  • Oh my goodness, this show is amazing.
  • On the one hand, I’m relieved that there is a horror program that is not too terrifying for scaredy cats like myself, but on the other, I hope the producers would forgo adding romance and melodrama to make this another standard Korean drama.
  • Though it appears like Island is adhering to the webtoon’s storyline, I am confident that as the show’s finale approaches, we will see more terrifying sequences.
  • Although I detest how little Eunwoo is appearing, I suppose we should be happy with the exorcism scene from the previous episode.
  • However, Da-hee and Nam-gil have terrific chemistry, and the way Da-hee plays Min-ho highlights how upbeat she is in real life.
  • I also adore the show’s inclusion of comedy, which provides some much-needed brightness and serves to offset the more tragic beats. Let’s hope the producers stick to this pattern in the upcoming episodes as well.
