Without a public hearing, Aspen Medical, based in Canberra, would go on to get more than $1.1 billion in government contracts.
In 2018, and 2019, the company lost $7 million. During the epidemic, pre-tax profits at the company rose to more than $420 million.
Despite the fact that Aspen Medical had never done large-scale procurement before, its PPE contracts with the Department of Health were worth $500 million more than those of any other government supplier, even those who had worked in the field before.

Over the same 12 years, the company has also been a big supporter of the Australian Labor Party, giving about $54,000 in donations and other receipts.
