The story of Goodbye

Goodbye is about a father and daughter who are usually very different in how they think, act, and what they believe. Their mother Gayatri (played by Neena Gupta), who is the only thing that keeps them together, is the only thing that holds them together. But everything changes when Gayatri dies and takes the thing they have in common with her.

The family gets ready for Gayatri’s funeral as they deal with their loss. Everyone gets there in their own hurry for the last ceremonies and rituals. In the story, there is a son who married a foreigner. He cares about his mother, but not about the rites. His strange actions in a sad situation often make people laugh, and then his father tells him to stop.

Aside from this, Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Gayatri’s daughter, has the same opinion. She thinks that her mother should be able to decide how and when she wants to say goodbye. Amitabh Bachchan plays her father, who tells her right away that she is wrong.

Her father thinks that the last rites and rituals are holy and should not be changed. He says that it’s not like a birthday party where each person gets to choose the theme. So, he wants to give his wife a proper, traditional farewell before she leaves for eternity.

Sunil Grover (Boss, Bharat) also has a big part in the movie. He calls himself a messenger of god and will be in charge of all the rituals. His character also gives the impression that he will help Tara see how important values and culture are. along with the feelings that went along with it.

Review of the movie Goodbye: A look at the script

In the last two years, Hindi movies like Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, Pagglait, and a few others have looked at how to deal with the biggest fear of life, which is losing someone close to you. What kind of a circus does it lead to, and do we really need to keep doing the things we’ve been doing for years? With his writing, Vikas Bahl adds something new and a bit more modern, and before anyone can question his idea, he hits them with the ultimate emotions. At least for him, it’s a good thing.

Goodbye, which was written by Vikas, is about a family dealing with the death of the matriarch, who was the glue that held this borderline dysfunctional, but still together, family together. So when these characters meet and talk to each other for no reason, unlike in the happy flashbacks, Bahl makes it clear that he wants a wave of emotions and memories to hit his audience because that is how his story will go. He connects the audience to his film by starting with a tragedy and then slowly going back in time to show what’s been missing between the characters up until now. And by the time you see Neena Gupta for the first time, you’ve already shed at least a few tears as an audience.

Please forgive me if I use the word “emotion” a lot, but Goodbye is all about the power of that one word. The clear goal is to make you see the world without a mother figure. This may be different for everyone, but the bond and its absence remain the same. Vikas even does it in a beautiful way. Because he’s not just thinking about what’s gone, but also about how life looks and will look without her.

In his desire to make real people and real problems, he adds humor to the script, most of which is based on the situation. But he knows that his goal is to make people cry, so he doesn’t spend much time leading up to the funeral. And I dare you to hold back your tears, because the feeling of a void that we all fear pierces our hearts and breaks them, even if there are some flaws. Even when Neena Gupta is dead and lying on a block of ice, you can’t help but feel sad, and when the story goes back in time, she brings the most warmth.

The idea of how and by whom someone should grieve is looked at in depth. A father who is angry at everything around him because he lost his anger, a son who makes him realize that he isn’t the only one who has lost someone, and a daughter who doesn’t get along with her father and now has to go through the conditioned rituals so that her mother can find salvation. Everything comes to a stop.

Not that the movie is as good as Bahl’s Queen, which is another example of how well he knows how to deal with emotions. (We don’t talk about Shaandaar here). But Goodbye isn’t always good at making changes. Most of the time, it feels abrupt and you can feel the bump between funny and sad scenes. When a new scene starts, the bump can also be felt. Most of the time because of the transition I just talked about, but also because Vikas starts them off with some strange notes. Like when the father catches his son having s*x the night of his mother’s cremation, and there’s a reason for it. Full marks for bringing up a modern problem, but the beginning is a bit strange.

Review of the movie Goodbye: Star Turn

Even though he is 80, Amitabh Bachchan is still getting better as an actor, and the fact that he is a megastar only makes me respect him more every day. He has to be strong because he is the father of this camp. My heart broke in every scene, but especially in the two where he is preparing for the funeral but has no time to grieve and the one where he finally gets a chance to talk to his wife’s ashes. You can tell that the actor doesn’t take his job for granted, and he really does make you feel every emotion he acts out. Be it his problem, his fears, his anger, his love, or anything else.

As the movie goes on, we find out more about Neena Gupta. She is the perfect person and is so cute that you can’t imagine someone like her on a funeral pyre. Her acting is full of warmth, and every time she gets to be with Big B, she gets to live out her dream of being the heroine she has always deserved to be.

Rashmika Mandanna gives a sincere performance, but it is hard for her because Bachchan is on screen more than anyone else. The actor makes you believe his tears, and you care about Tara because most of the trouble is about her. The actor walks the path pretty well, even though he has a lot of responsibility. They get full marks for letting her record her own lines. But it does bother a little bit when someone points out that the family is Punjabi and that Tara is the real child and wasn’t adopted.

Pavail Gulati, Sahil Mehta, Elli Avram, and Ashish Vidyarthi, along with everyone else, play their parts with conviction and belief. Sunil Grover in a cameo does impress. Think of him as Vikas Bahl trying to tell you what his movie is about without being too preachy. The idea works because he says it in a way that is easy to understand and like. He says that we are just stories, which is true.

Vikas Bahl knows his audience and gives them what they want. I look at things with a critical eye, but most people will look past the flaws to get into the story and end up crying.

There are clear holes in the story that could have been fixed in the movie version. It doesn’t make sense for Mudassar to say, “I’ll come to the funeral, you go ahead to Tara,” and then land there the next morning. Or, Nakul’s story is so fast-paced that he has to get off a train to charge his phone, even though we all know that train has plugs for charging phones.

After a long time, Amit Trivedi has made an album that will win hearts. Jaikal Mahakal and Chann Pardesi are both great songs, but there are a few more that are also worth listening to.

The Last Word on the Movie “Goodbye”

Goodbye is a movie that does what it wants to do, even though it has some flaws that are hidden by the emotions. If you watch, it’s also an art. If you can also ignore them, do it. You’ll learn what it’s like to lose and how to heal your heart.
