While it’s undeniable that William Frederick “Fred” Durst has accomplished a lot in the entertainment industry. Like any famous person, Limp Bizkit’s frontman is no stranger to controversy or public disputes. However, the response from the crowd to his performance at the eagerly anticipated Woodstock Music Festival in the summer of 1999 is the one that has steadfastly followed him for more than two decades. After all, the audience members decided to really pay attention to the words of the band’s song “Break Stuff” during their normal set, anticipating the catastrophic rioting that would take place the following night.
However, many others, including the festival’s promoter John Scher, expressly blame Fred because, as depicted in Netflix’s “Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99,” he did sort of blend in with the crowd. Since Limp Bizkit was founded in 1994, Fred Durst has dedicated himself to the group; therefore, it is not surprising that he currently has six studio albums to his credit. This is true despite the fact that they took an unofficial break from 2005 to 2009 and despite his admission that he had grown weary of the persona Fred had given to his songs because he had actually started to feel misunderstood. The singer-songwriter initially developed into a genuine actor and director during the break, with some of his acting credentials for the former including “Population 436,” “House MD,” and “Play Dead.”
In 2007, Fred made his feature film debut with “The Education of Charlie Banks.” Since then, he has also directed the comedies “The Longshots” and “The Fanatic” as well as other films. However, it is important to note that the performer, who was born in Florida and raised in North Carolina, pled not guilty in 2007 to seven misdemeanour charges, including violence, assault, and reckless driving in connection with an accident the previous year. He was then given a 120-day suspended sentence, along with a $1,500 fine and 20 hours of community service requirements.
Since then, Fred doesn’t appear to have run afoul of the law. In regards to his present situation, he started a tour with the band in April 2022 after the release of Limp Bizkit’s sixth studio album, “Still Sucks,” on October 31, 2021. On July 17, 2022, they made the announcement that they would be cancelling every show they had planned for the UK and Europe due to the health of the 51-year-old. As can be seen below, neither Fred nor the band provided a clear explanation, but the band did provide a brief explanation in a video message on their website.
Before the summer tour, Fred stated he had gone to the doctor for a checkup to “make sure I’m in good physical shape and everything’s okay.” And to my surprise, my doctor has made the decision to write me a note advising me to stay close by while he conducts additional tests and that he does not want me to travel at this time.
