On Saturday, a man wanted for a series of armed robberies in the state of Texas was taken into custody alongside his brother
The man is suspected of shooting and killing a dog during the commission of one of the robberies.
According to the Fort Worth police department, Donovin Copeland, age 18, and his brother Billy Don Copeland, age 21, were taken into custody after detectives received reports from members of the community regarding Donovin’s location.
They were thought to be in an apartment in the 6200 block of Vega Drive at the time of the search.
The neighbourhood was under observation by the police, and they saw two males exit the apartment they were watching.

The Fort Worth Police Department’s Intelligence, Fugitive, and SWAT units were conducting a surveillance operation on the apartment when they observed two individuals exiting the building.
When the officers approached them, they had just gotten into a car and were on their way out of the complex. Both Donovin and the other man were taken into custody without a fight breaking out.
Billy Don Copeland, age 21, and also a resident of Fort Worth, was named by the police as the suspect in this case. The police said that at the time of their arrest, Billy was in possession of a revolver that Donovin had taken during a robbery and then given to Billy. During the course of the search of the flat, the police discovered a firearm.
The Copeland brothers, Billy and Donovin, are both being detained at the Fort Worth Jail. Donovin is being charged with multiple counts of aggravated robbery.

Copeland is suspected of committing four serious armed robberies between the dates of December 7, 2022 and January 11, 2023.

The police reported that he fired a gun in all three incidents. The Fort Worth Police Department reported that Copeland committed his first robbery on December 7 of this year.

At that location, the police said that one of the suspects was equipped with a knife, while the other possessed a firearm. A witness was pistol-whipped, and the thieves made off with cash and the vehicle of the cashier. The vehicle was later found abandoned in west Fort Worth the next day.

Raynsford reported that Copeland committed another crime on January 2, claiming that he opened fire at a convenience shop located at 6001 North Main Street, where he killed a little dog and then stole the automobile of the store clerk. The vehicle was once more found the next day in the western part of Fort Worth.
Jacki Anderson, who works at the business, revealed to KXAS-TV that she has had the dog, whose name is Peanut, for the past 12 years.

According to the police, Copeland did not appear to care whether onlookers witnessed him commit crimes because he did not cover his face and did not appear to care if they did.
All of the robberies were carried out in broad daylight, between the hours of one and three in the afternoon.
Following the publication of surveillance photographs that showed Copeland’s face, the police got suggestions from the public identifying him as the suspect, which led to his identification.
