The bassist for the English punk band The Pogues, Darryl Hunt, passed away at the age of 72. Hunt passed away in London on August 8, 2022, in the afternoon, according to the punk band. Hunt’s demise is still under investigation for a cause of death. The band members paid their respects and conveyed their sadness in their condolences.
In addition to playing bass, Hunt contributed to five of the band’s albums, beginning with If I Should Fall from Grace with God in 1988 and continuing through the release of Pogue Mahone, the group’s final album, in 1996. When the group reassembled in 2001, Darryl Hunt stayed with them until 2014.

Love You ‘Til the End is one of the songs Darryl Hunt is credited for authoring. The song gained popularity after it was used in the 2007 film P.S. I Love You, starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler.

Hunt is seen holding his guitar in a photo posted by The Pogues. They also referenced his song Love You ‘Til The End, which they themselves wrote. The group penned:
“Our Darryl passed away in London yesterday afternoon. 04/05/1950 – 08/08/2022 Darryl Gatwick Hunt. I adore you to the very end, and I know you want to hear me catch my breath.”
Frontman of the band MacGowan said on Twitter:
“Darryl was a genuinely wonderful guy, a fantastic friend, and a great bass player. I’m so sorry he passed away. All of us will miss him.”

On Monday evening, news of Darryl Hunt of the Pogues’ passing spread. He belonged to our book club. He had an astonishingly broad mind, odd perspectives, and was wonderfully kind and quiet. He was the only member of the group who consistently displayed total composure. a charming, decent dude.

Sad news regarding Darryl Hunt. Between 1985 and 1990, I saw The Pogues three times; each time was a spectacular night, and both this album and its predecessor are outstanding. And this book’s cover is gorgeous.

Darryl Hunt and The Pogues: Five More Facts
On May 4, 1950, Darryl Hunt was born in Hampshire, England. He studied at the Nottingham School of Art and received a BA in Fine Art as his degree.
Hunt was a member of The Favourites and pub rock group Plummet Airlines before he joined The Pogues in 1986. Along with Dave Scott and Cait O’Riordan from The Pogues, he was a member of Pride of the Cross, among other bands.
After assisting with the band’s sound, driving, and tour management for a while, Hunt joined permanently in 1986.
He made significant contributions to all of the band’s albums, notably If I Should Fall From Grace With God from 1988, which contained the holiday classic Fairytale of New York. In December 2021, the Kirsty MacColl-assisted 1987 song made its yearly appearance on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.
Shane MacGowan fronted The Pogues in 1982. The moniker Pogue Mahone, which in English means “kiss my ar**,” was originally used for the group. MacGowan quit the band in 1991. However, The Pogues continued performing until 1996 with the help of additional vocalists Joe Strummer and Spider Stacy.
