Kenya’s third president, Kibaki, passed away at the age of 90, prompting tributes to be made to him.
The Kenyan politician Mwai Kibaki served as the country’s third president from December 2002 to April 2013, a period that was critical in the country’s transition from a one-party state to a democratic republic.
He served as Kenya’s fourth Vice President from 1978 to 1988, during which time he worked with President Daniel Arap Moi for ten years.
Mwai Kibaki, the former President of Kenya, died at the age of 90, according to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
To mark the passing of President Kibaki, Kenyatta has announced a national day of mourning, with all flags flying at half-mast.
He was well-known as an excellent economist who contributed to the growth of Kenya’s economy, and as President of Kenya, he had the opportunity to make positive changes in the country.

Mwai Kibaki has previously been treated for what has been termed as low blood pressure, while sources indicate that he was also treated for an immune system condition at the time of his treatment.
Mr. Kibaki has been in and out of hospitals, with some of his ailments being attributed to his late age, while others have been linked to a car accident in December 2002 at the Machakos crossroads.
A blood clot in his right leg had led him to the clinic on January 20, 2004, according to the doctors who examined him. He had been diagnosed with modest high blood pressure at the time. He was released from custody eight days later.
Following that, he was airlifted to South Africa in 2016 for carotid artery surgery, which he underwent without incident and recovered from.
In September of this year, Kibaki travelled to London for a series of medical checks. His knee was also evaluated to see how it was doing.
Furthermore, the president was brought to the hospital in June 2020 due to lower-abdominal pain, which was treated successfully.
