A former Major League Baseball pitcher who has three children, Nolan Ryan spent 27 years in the league. He is regarded as one of the all-time great MLB pitchers.
Ryan maintained this velocity throughout his pitching career and pitched for a number of baseball organizations, including the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, New York Mets, and California Angels.

Reid Ryan, the eldest of Nolan Ryan’s children, serves as a Major League Baseball trustee
One of Nolan Ryan’s three children, Ried, is a baseball pitcher who was one of his era’s most gifted pitchers and was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
Ried has established himself in the MLB community in addition to the popularity enjoyed by his father. He played college and professional baseball before retiring.
Ried made minor league starts for baseball. He pursued his career in baseball games, following in his father’s footsteps. While a student at the University of Texas at Austin, he began his college baseball career with the Texas Longhorns.
Ried finished his time as a student-athlete with the TCU Horned Frogs before transferring to Texas Christian University.
His father’s team, the Texas Rangers, selected him in the 17th round (477th overall) of the 1994 Major League Baseball draft.
Ried threw 84 innings for the Class A Short Season Hudson Valley Renegades in 1994 and had a 5-5 record, 2.89 ERA, 1.30 walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP), and 84 innings pitched.
He played for both the Class A Advanced Visalia Oaks and Class A Charleston RiverDogs in 1995, dividing time between the two clubs, compiling a combined 0-10 record, 9.34 ERA, and 2.29 WHIP.
After retiring, he returned to his family’s business and worked alongside his father and younger brother Reese as president and CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball, Inc.
He started working as a baseball executive as well. On May 16, 2013, the Houston Astros, a major league baseball team, appointed him as president.
The club won the World Series in 2017 and the American League pennant in 2019 during his time there. Nevertheless, he served as executive producer for the film Facing Nolan.

Ruth Holdorff is the spouse of Nolan Ryan. They had been best friends since high school and got married on June 25, 1967.
Ryan first met Ruth when they were both students at Alvin High School. In 2022, they had recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Ruth, his wife, excelled in tennis throughout her time in high school. She assisted her spouse by acting as a catcher.
During the off-season, she frequently put on catching gear to watch Nolan pitch. She spent a couple summers managing the sons’ minor league teams.
Mrs. Ruth spends her time helping others. She and her husband Nolan co-founded the Nolan Ryan Foundation, which provides resources for community, school, and youth development.
