Maurice Trouwborst, a Dutch filmmaker, directed Captain Nova, which is a dark and moody look at the new genre of climate-conscious science fiction movies. The movie takes us to a post-apocalyptic world where the north pole is industrialised. Nova is a fighter pilot in the movie. She goes back in time to stop the disaster and finds the company that caused it.
Because Nova has been travelling a lot in the past, no one takes her seriously because she looks younger than she really is. The movie was the first one to be shown at the Dutch film festival Cinekid. It won a lot of awards and accolades. Captain Nova’s Filming Locations
“Captain Nova” was made in the Netherlands, mostly in Amsterdam and the province of Utrecht. Filming is thought to have taken place in the fall of 2020, when COVID-19 rules were in place. Because of his work on “Quality Time,” Robbie van Brussel was chosen to do the cinematography for this movie. A production designer named Barbara Westra was also in charge of the movie. Her work was used in the movie, “My Best Friend Anne Frank.” It was Marijn Molenaar, who was the art director of ‘Life as It Should Be,’ who did the same job in this show. Amsterdam, Netherlands
Several parts of the movie were shot in Amsterdam. The Dutch capital, Amsterdam, is known for its many canals and art that dates back a few centuries. The crew filmed at some well-known places in the city and used a few businesses in the area. The old Hemweg power plant (Kraftwerk Hemweg), a power station in the Hemweg neighbourhood of Amsterdam, was the backdrop for the dark atmosphere of the industrial north pole. It was located at Petroleumhavenweg 1 in the Hemweg neighbourhood.
It was added later in post-production, just like the breath clouds of Nova and Nas. Fleur Sophie Boots, a shoemaker at Funenpark 347 in Amsterdam, is also on the list of people who helped. However, the shop has been closed for good.
Other places in the Netherlands
In the movie, a lot of scenes were shot in Utrecht, which is another well-known Dutch province. At its heart is the city named after it, which has a mediaeval core. It’s about 44 kilometres south of the Dutch capital, Amsterdam. We got some help from the landscaper at Bunnikseweg 39 in De Bilt, which is a town and village in the province of Utrecht.
It also took place at Park Vliegbasis Soesterberg, a former airbase that has now been turned into a park. In Soest, a town in the province of Utrecht, there is a very important place. The park is usually open to the public, but there are a few exceptions to this. The crew took great care to keep the natural resources around them safe while filming.
In addition, the film crew got help from Staatsbosbeheer, a Dutch government agency that looks after forests and natural areas. This is because they couldn’t find an office space that looked like the evil company from the film. In the Netherlands, Staatsbosbeheer protects more than 250,000 hectares of land. So, they shot the scenes in a country house, which is likely somewhere in the Netherlands.
