The eighth anniversary of Jumanji actor Robin Williams’ passing was August 11, 2022. Zak Williams and Zelda Williams, his children, paid tribute to their father online. While his daughter shared a few lines from Japanese author Haruki Murakami, Zak described Robin as a very generous and happy person.
On August 11, 2014, Robin committed suicide after receiving a false Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. He later suffered Lewy body dementia, as revealed by an autopsy.

Williams was well renowned for his acting roles, perhaps most known for his portrayal of Alan Parrish in the 1995 movie Jumanji. Bradley Pierce and Kirsten Dunst both played the main characters in the fantasy adventure movie.
During Jumanji’s 20th anniversary in 2020, Pierce recounted how Robin defended him from the movie’s executives when Dunst and he were still kid actors in 1995. In a moment where the game caused a monsoon to sweep the globe, Pierce was having issues since the water had an adverse effect on his makeup, which was necessary because his character had transformed into a monkey.
Pierce claimed he was having trouble breathing and that everyone was exhausted after an eight-day shoot. However, the producers attempted to complete everything by making the kids work longer hours than was permitted. Bradley remarked:
“Children can only spend a certain amount of time on set. The producers had asked our parents if they might work a little overtime to finish it when they first approached them. Because doing an extra half-hour rather than a complete day literally saves $100,000 (£73,000), that is not at all unusual in the industry.
After learning about it, Williams informed the producers, Joe Johnston, and the director that this was not possible. He said they had to let everyone go and they would return the following week. No one stood up like the late actor did, according to Bradley, for the cost. He also said that Robin was really loving, giving, compassionate, and protective.
