Robert L. Turner is a well-known American politician and businessman who was born on May 2, 1941. He represented New York’s 9th congressional district in the United States Congress from 2011 to 2013, during which time he served as the representative for that district (which includes parts of Brooklyn and Queens). His affiliation is with the Republican Party. Turner is a retired media executive who achieved notoriety in the field of television discussion shows during the course of his career. Six years after leaving his corporate career behind, he entered politics with the goal of defeating Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner in the November 2010 election. He only received 39 percent of the vote, which was not enough to win the election for him. In a special election held after Anthony Weiner resigned from his seat as a result of a sexting controversy, Republican Bob Turner was victorious over Democratic challenger David Weprin, garnering 52 percent of the vote to Weprin’s 47 percent. When Turner’s congressional district was eliminated as a result of redistricting in 2012, he decided to run for the United States Senate but was ultimately unsuccessful in the primary election.
