After Andor and Luthen reunited at the end of Andor season 1, many people wondered what would happen to the pair in Andor season 2. In the first three-episode storyline of Andor, Cassian met Luthen, who was working with Mon Mothma to form the budding Rebel Alliance. Much of Andor season 1 has focused on Luthen’s attempts to assassinate Cassian to wrap up loose ends after recruiting Cassian’s assistance in the Aldhani task; however, the season finale of Andor subverts this and has the eponymous character wholeheartedly support Luthen’s cause.
This collaboration dramatically establishes the plot of Andor season 2 and the fates of both characters. It is reasonable to assume where the pair go in Andor’s second season based on information about the larger Star Wars canon, details from season 1, and knowledge of where the Rebel Alliance is at the time Rogue One takes place. Even if it’s obvious the two should play a crucial role in the formation of the Rebel Alliance in Andor season 2, it’s known that Andor will endure until the conclusion of Rogue One, giving Luthen a more murky destiny.

Andor Season1: Characters and Cast
Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna:
A criminal whose planet, Kenari, was destroyed by a botched mining operation run by the Galactic Empire. Andor is introduced in the series as a “revolution-averse” cynic. It follows his transformation in Rogue One into “the most passionate person who’s going to give themselves to rescue the galaxy.” He is “truly a fantastic kind of spy, fighter, murderer,” according to Gilroy, who also defined him as a natural leader with people skills. When Andor was still known as Kassa, Antonio Via painted him as a young man.
Syril Karn, played by Kyle Soller
A deputy inspector for Preox-Morlana (Pre-Mor) Authority, an organisation that oversees the trade sector. After learning that Andor had killed two of Pre-security Mor’s personnel, Karn, who works for the company, is committed to bringing him to justice. Soller described his persona as possessing “a desperate need to impress and satisfy his needs. And thus, that essentially has to do with rising to the top of his field. He has chosen a domain of dominance, complete control, and restriction.”
Adria Arjona
Bix Caleen, played by Adria Arjona, is Andor’s ally and mechanic.
Luthen Rael, a member of the Rebel Alliance and Caleen’s dealer contact, is played by Stellan Skarsgard. On Cassian’s first assignment as a Rebel operative, he hires him. Luthen makes a show of being an odd Coruscant-based antique trader.
Fiona Shaw
Marva Andor, played by Fiona Shaw, is Cassian’s adoptive mother. Dedra Meero, played by Denise Gough, is a manager with the Imperial Security Bureau.
Mon Mothma, played by Genevieve O’Reilly, is a wealthy core world of Chandrila resident who serves in the Imperial Senate and attempts to navigate Empire politics while secretly providing financial support to the Rebel Alliance.
Faye Marsay
On Aldhani, Vel Sartha—a rebel commander and Mothma’s cousin—plays Faye Marsay.
Cinta Kaz, played by Varada Sethu, is the team’s healer and medic on Aldhani.
Kenya Marki, played by Elizabeth Dulau, worked as Luther’s helper in his antiquities shop.
Andor Season 1: Episode 11
Following their prison break, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and Melshi (Duncan Pow) are on the run and attempting to avoid the Empire’s attention. Cassian is unaware of Maarva’s passing on Ferris until the end of the episode, while funeral arrangements are made. Many parties interested in him closely monitor how he will respond and whether he will show up to say goodbye to his adoptive mother. In light of this, Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) suggests that the ISB permit Maarva’s funeral rites to proceed under constraints and close observation. Even Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) smells this coming and is last seen deciding what to do.
The penultimate episode slows down to shift the focus back to several characters as they appear to gather for the finale after last week’s fantastic prison break adventure. This receives so much attention that Mon Mothma’s (Genevieve O’Reilly) storyline is pushed to the margins. Even the first meeting between Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) and Luthen (Stellan Skarsgard) doesn’t feel as intense as the first.
There is no connection to the mysterious Anto Kreegyr or his position in the overall scheme of things. Thus, using him as someone Lutheran is willing to sacrifice for the “greater cause” falls flat. The encounter between Lutheran and an Imperial ship is a short but thrilling action scene. Even yet, it only highlights the impressive arsenal on Luthen’s boat and doesn’t advance the plot in any other way.
Andor Season 1: Plot
The high-hope fans were satisfied with the Andor Season 1 finale.
The final episode of the Andor freshman season, which debuted earlier today on Disney+, concluded some storylines while beginning others. Here is a closer look at what transpired in the Andor Season 1 finale.
Andor Season 1: Premiere
The funeral for Maarva Andor was being held on “Rix Road.” In the last chapter, Andor’s adoptive mother passes away, leaving Ferris in great sorrow for the death of a cherished resident. Cassian returned to Ferris to bid Maarva farewell after learning of the predicament. The Empire invaded the planet in search of the person they thought was responsible for the heist on Aldhani because they assumed Andor would return for the funeral.
While the Imperial Security Bureau concentrated on preserving order during Maarva’s funeral, Cassian foresaw the Empire’s plans and, with the assistance of his lifelong friends, chose to save Bix from the Empire. After an ISB officer cut off Maarva’s pre-recorded farewell address, Ferrix’s residents erupted in wrath and turned on the stormtroopers in full guerilla fashion. Cassian took advantage of the chaos to guide Bix to safety.
Not just Dedra Meero and the other ISB agents were anxious to see Cassian go back to Ferris. The Rebellion agents and Luthen Rael were shown in the Andor Season 1 finale looking for the ideal opportunity to murder Cassian. Even though they participated in Aldhani’s crime together, Cassian was only a mercenary who didn’t support the Rebellion at the time.
Additionally, following the heist, Cassian and Vel Sartha didn’t split ways amicably. Cassian, who accepted his fate and begged Rael to join the Rebellion formally, seems to have changed due to his captivity on Narkina 5. He made his choice partly in response to Maarva’s dying longing to see her fellow citizens join the fight against the Empire.

Andor Season 1: Post-Credit Scene
A post-credits scene from the Andor debut season resolves a significant puzzle. Finally, in the brief scene, was revealed what Cassian and the other prisoners in the Narkina 5 prison were working on. They were working to build the infamous super laser from the Death Star, a weapon that could instantly destroy an entire planet. As revealed in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it is ironic that Cassian contributed to the creation of the very thing that killed him. The Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith ending, where Darth Vader and the Emperor were gazing at the still-under-construction Death Star, was also alluded to in the post-credit scene.
Is There a Season 2 of Andor?
Yes, Andor will return in the second season, which began production on November 21, 2022. The following season will include 12 episodes, much like Season 1. Producers hinted that the main plot would unfold over four significant chunks. Andor Season 2 will follow the titular hero during the remaining time he spent before the Battle of Scarif, in contrast to the first season, which only spanned one year.
