On the twentieth season of ‘American Idol,’ 24 contestants succeeded to make it to the coveted ‘Top 24’ list after a gruelling battle against the clock. Needless to say, the competition amongst the contestants is fierce, with everyone of them willing to move beyond of their comfort zone in order to continue their participation in the ABC series. While each of the performers tried their hardest to impress the judges and the audience, Dan Marshall’s performance was met with a mixed response from the audience.
Marshall chose the song ‘Heaven’ by Bryan Adams to perform in the top 24 of the Top 24. Marshall began to feel uneasy and embarrassed when he was forced to leave his guitar behind and had to appear on stage solo without his guitar after this experience. Despite the fact that the judges could detect his uneasiness, they were happy with his overall performance and advised him to let go of his fears and enjoy himself during his performances. While his performance was criticised by some as ‘boring,’ others were perplexed as to how he managed to gain a spot on the top 24 list in the first place.

Many fans were also perplexed as to how he managed to make it into the top 24 performers list. According to a fan, “Now, how did this Dan person make it into the top 24 in the rankings? He’s not a poor vocalist; he’s just extremely…extremely monotone. Dan is a complete disappointment when compared to the other country singer, Mike. You had me fooled. They’ll vote for him to continue as #AmericanIdol, though, because that’s how America works.” “This individual must be a member of Luke’s family or something. There was no way he was going to make it this far.
