The Department of Medicine is one of the largest departments of this institute. This was established in 1961. Currently Medicine Department is having 10 Medical Units headed by either Professor or Associate Professor of Medicine. The Department runs the following activities related to patients care, undergraduate & Post Graduate teaching as main work. At present Department is headed by Dr. A.N. Shah Professor of Medicine.

National programme:
1. ART Center (ARTC) run by Department is now center of Excellence guided & Funded by NACO is Unique & one of the only 10 National center of India. This center caters services to around 8000 PLHA’s for care & Support. All PLHA’s are examined, categorized & given free ART as per GOI protocol. ARTC is also responsible for ART training of various health care worker form States & other states also. ARTC conduct Workshop, seminar, CME & also involved in Research & Publication in the field of HIV/AIDS
